Baas and Bubbles
Meet our friend Mary-Jane, or as we like to call her "Bubbles". Let me explain...
For years, Mary-Jane and Carole were neighbors at the Saratoga Farmers Market. Mary-Jane's tables were filled with her homemade soaps, and Carole's with her yarns and meats. As laughs and stories were shared and it was discovered that both shared an obsession with fiber. Mary-Jane was a long time spinner, but had never been biten by the knitting bug. One chilly winter morning a proposition was made. "Perhaps you would like to knit me one of those nice warm socks," said Mary- Jane. "Perhaps you would like to knit your own damn sock!," Carole replied. And so it was born. The friendship grew quickly over knitting nights and glasses of wine.
It was during an annual trip to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival that the idea for "Baas and Bubbles" was born. While admiring the wool filled booths, they realized that by combining their two products, soap and yarn, they could create something special. It was not long before Mary-Jane and Carole were hitting the road themselves, yarn, soaps, and a bottle of wine in tow. Look for them this year at your favorite fiber festivals.
